This just in:

US Airways today announced it will charge $25 for a second checked bag.

USAir is following the lead of its code-share partner, United Airlines. Plus, they’re stepping it up a notch by including all their international flights as well.

USAir  has flights from Anchorage to Phoenix and Anchorage to Las Vegas.

I’ve flown them a couple of times. I didn’t like it then. Plus, they have a lousy airport club in Boston that you get access to if you have Alaska Airlines’ Board Room membership. Unlike the Board Room, however, there is lousy coffee. They charge for internet access. The staff is nice but–well, it’s a lousy club.

Of course, it’s a lousy airline. I kinda miss America West. They ran a better show, I think. Perhaps this latest STUPID move is being inflicted on the traveling public because the company still cannot get their pilots to agree to a single contract.

Yep. That’s it. USAir’s strategy is to make everyone equally miserable. To make their flying experience equally bad. To settle in at the bottom of the heap. My, it’s dark there at the bottom of the barrel. Keep it up. Jerks.

I few one time on USAir this last November from Puerto Vallarta to Pheonix non stop. This is my one and only experience with the airline. The price was much better than any other airline connection I could find. The service was very basic, and but the flight arrived exactly on schedule.

In regard to the new one bag baggage policy, I think it will promote people lugging aboard more bulging carry-ons, and just slow down the boarding and disembarking process.

I fully agree with US Airways is a lousy airline!

I booked 2 one way flights from Las Vegas to Los Angeles online. Worth per flight: $65 +tax
About 15 hours after booking I had to cancel these flights.
US Airways not only does NOT refund the money … they will also charge an additional fee of $100 per ticket if the tickets are used for another route than the one from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.
And the tickets are not transferable.
Neither of us will get the need to fly from LV to LA within the next 12 months.
So the total amount of ~$150 will be lost.

A “gift” to US Airways. Seems they need that money urgently to stay alive.

Back in 1997 USA Today had a headline saying “US Airways fights to keep valued passengers”.
However, reality proves: US Airways does NOTHING to keep valuded passengers. Sad, but true!

In all “fare” ness to USAirways… You buy tickets and agree to their rules.. Because you don’t wan’t them later is unfortunately not the airlines fault. Remember, a ticket is a form of a contract which you follow as well as the airline.

Right-o, John. Beginning in August, USAirways will start charging $2 for soft drinks on their flights. And they’re going to start charging $15 for the first checked bag as well. Perhaps I was a little soft on USAirways before. In today’s new reality, it’s time to call a spade a doggone shovel: USAirways sucks.

Understandable on the fees.. Everyone is going that direction. I have no argument there.
