Like many other readers, I took advantage of last month’s pre-PFD sale to snag a $149 ticket to Seattle from Anchorage on Alaska Airlines. My itinerary included a few flights on sister airline Horizon. We flew from Santa Rosa to Seattle on a sleek Bombardier Q400:

Checking in for the 6:30pm flight (#104) was a snap. Everything in Anchorage was going nicely.  The flight, however, was delayed two hours due to a mechanical glitch.

Nonetheless, with a 12:45am arrival, I missed my shuttle and had to take a $38 cab ride to my hotel, the Quality Inn, near the Space Needle. Thankfully, there was no traffic!  (more…)

We were waiting when the New York carrier would make an entrance here in Alaska. Our friends at Era Aviation snapped this shot out at Anchorage International Airport.

Um, okay. This one’s a charter flight. The “McCain-Palin” logo on the side is a dead giveaway. First Fairbanks, now Anchorage. And isn’t that E-190 a sleek-looking aircraft? See that bump on the top of the plane about 2/3 down the fuselage? I think it’s part of the hardware for the seatback entertainment system. Learn more online.
