Great new deals from Gray Line of Alaska, including overnight accommodations and round-trip train transportation on the McKinley Explorer private rail car. REALLY–these are good deals. Here’s a shot looking out from the top deck of the McKinley Explorer private rail cars:

From Anchorage: Ride the train roundtrip up and back to Denali and stay for one night. The price? Just $289 roundtrip, per person, double. Add one or two extra nights for just $99 per room, per night. That’s plenty of time to take the bus tour into the park and see the wildlife! Take a raft trip. Go for a flightseeing tour!

From Fairbanks, the same package is available for just $199 rt per person, double. In fact, if you want to stay in Fairbanks before or after your tour, the rate is just $59 per night at the Westmark Hotel. Wow!

I need some advice. Two summers ago, My husband and I planned a 15-day car trip of Alaska stopping at B & B’s and seeing several National Parks. We arrived in Anchorage, he became ill on our second day, we spent a week in Anchorage Regional Hospital until we could fly back home. He passed away 3 months after the trip.

I put the air miles back in my account and forgot about them and Alaska. Last week I received a notice from US Airways that I have to book a flight by June 30 or forfeit the miles. I can travel later, I just have to book a flight.

I am feeling somewhat confident that I can do this. My only view of Alaska was from a hospital window. I called some friends that live in Anchorage and they said they would be happy for me to visit them sometime in July. I do not want to be dependent on them the entire visit. But on the other hand, I am not so independent that I would rent a car and go off on my own adventure.

One of the goals of the original trip was to see Denali. I am very interested in more details about the $399-2 night rail tour to Denali mentioned on your website. This sounds like something I could do independently. Does this price include lodging and a tour of the park? Is there an additional single supplement?

I am also interested in any day tours that may be available from Anchorage to Seward, Kenai or any other deals you may suggest. I am a high school teacher so the dates and length of the visit are flexible. I have not booked a flight until I have a few plans. But I want to make a reservation soon before I talk myself out of it.

My friend is a doctor at Anchorage Regional Hospital and she recommended you as a good resource.

I’m looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
