Just an awesome day for planespotting at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (TSAIA)! Witness the FedEx 777 taxiing for takeoff with Denali in the background (above). But that was just the warmup. Scroll down for the full show. Below, we snapped Condor’s 767 touching down on Runway 7R, thanks to the expert guidance of TSAIA Duty Manager Tim Lufkin. This Condor jet, inbound from Frankfurt,  is festooned with the carrier’s “retro” paint job.

Dontchyaknow this Cargolux 747-8F freighter (below) has that “new plane smell”? Heck, it’s only been flying for just over two months. Ya!

The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming. Dig this four-banger, wing-over Anotov 124 (below), operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines. It’s a cargo beast with a maximum payload of 508,000 pounds. Ya.

Check out Alaska Airlines‘ 737-400C (combi) rotating out of TSAIA (below), bound for Bethel (Alaska Air #43).

Finally, Staff Photographer David McMurren caught one happy #AvGeek at rest (right)–doing some close inspection of the GE engines on the Cathay Pacific 747-8s. Uh-huh. Cleared for takeoff!
