KOAN Podcast: Alaska state parks roundup!

It was another great week in the studio! Über-DJ Chris Coleman was spinning back-to-back stacks-o’-wax as I did our “air fare roundup”.

In the studio? The lovely, talented Elizabeth Bluemink (above, right). Sure, it looks like I’m coming across the table…these live radio shows can get a little crazy! LISTEN UP:

Alaska’s state parks are an awesome resource for locals and visitors. Some of the top picks:park

a. Wood-Tikchik State Park north of DIllingham. Cash in some Alaska Air miles to get to Dillingham, then arrange for the 30-mile drive north to Aleknagek–the park’s gateway.

b. Denali State Park. The park literally is in the shadow of Denali–and it’s a year-round playground for those of us in southcentral Alaska.

c. Chugach State Park. This is our giant back yard wilderness right here in Anchorage. Think “Flat Top” and “Crow Creek Pass”, Knik Glacier, Powerline Pass and all sorts of other great destinations.

Caines Head near Seward, Ft. Abercrombie in Kodiak and a great trail system in Juneau–it’s all part of our Alaska Parks system. Tune in, listen up….and get out and play!!
