Hello Tampa! I love the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (above). It’s for cars, of course. Planes are quicker…and Alaska Airlines announced last week it’s added TAMPA to its route network, starting June 20. Ya! PLUS, DOUBLE MILES. Also–flights to New Orleans from Seattle start on June 12 (plus DOUBLE MILES). Finally, Alaska announced it will be flying to DETROIT starting in the fall (Sept. 4). And yes…there is a double miles promotion as well.

Check out the paint job on Alaska’s Q400 (right), which is slated to start service between Anchorage and alaska-horizon-dhc-8-400-n443qx-14-uaa-seawolvesflthorizon-airlrFairbanks next month (starting Mar. 3). Switching to Horizon’s turbo-props will enable Alaska to boost frequency between the state’s two largest cities. The Q400 also will operate between Anchorage and Kodiak. Pray tell–is there a “CrabFest” paint job in the works? Hmm.

PS–Are you a resident of Alaska? Then you should be signed up for Club 49. It’s free–and you INSTANTLY get two free checked bags when flying in or out of Alaska. Never mind–you’ll also receive the weekly emails with special fares. DO it. Oh–and get the Alaska Airlines credit card, too.
