A Beautiful Day in Bethel, Alaska

In Adventure, Destination, Southwest Alaska by scott

We recently took a day trip out to Bethel, Alaska. It was my first visit in 20 years–so I was really looking forward to it. The mission was to deliver dictionaries (as part of  Anchorage South Rotary‘s Dictionary Project) to the 3rd grade class at Ayaprun Elitnaurvik, a yup’ik Immersion School. Recently, the school burned down, so classes are being held at the Lower Kuskokwim School District offices.

Along for the ride was our Rotary exchange student, Pato Moyano. He’s from Chile. Special thanks to ALASKA AIRLINES for providing air transportation there and back. Also, special thanks to YUTE AIR for our flightseeing tour over Napakiak, Napaskiak, Kwethluk and the mighty Kuskokwim River. Check out the photos.
