We’re always looking for a good deal between Anchorage and Minneapolis. FOUND ONE! FOUND ONE! Fly on either Northwest Airlines or Sun Country Airlines (both offer nonstop service) for just $353 roundtrip.
Fly today (Jul 17), since there is NO ADVANCE PURCHASE. This is the g-l-o-r-y of competition. If you’re lucky enough to get one of the scarce seats at Northwest, you have to return by Aug. 18. With Sun Country, you can travel through Sept. 8. We love Sun Country. But Northwest offers Alaska miles. You pick.

Let our friends at USTravel send you to San Francisco THIS WEEKEND for as little as $349 roundtrip. Ticketing fee of $38 is additional.
That’s right–it’s a heck of a deal, with a twist. You have to leave late on Friday night (11:55p) and fly through Denver, connecting to San Francisco. It’s a nonstop on the way back on July 15, though.
This is a last-minute deal, so call Laura or Giovanni right now: (907)561-2434. Toll-free: (800)544-2217. Get them to line up your hotel and rental car at the same time.
Oh, the special works in both directions if you want to fly north from San Francisco to Anchorage for a long weekend.
Check out this pic that Gary Blakely snapped of the Golden Gate. Nice!

Have you noticed? Fares are going up. So are extra fees. We’ve been working all night and all day to put together a comprehensive list of the lowest fares.

First–credit where credit is due. My consultant on this project is Giovanni Di Sarova over at USTravel. Call him: (907)561-2434 or (800)544-2217. We’ve been getting great reports on Giovanni from our readers.
Second–all the fares I’ve listed are round-trip and they’re valid in either direction. In addition to the base fare, the prices I’ve listed include all the mandatory shake-downs. Ticketing fees are additional. I’ve got some words on that–later.
IMPORTANT: Fares are subject to change without notice. Please DON’T GET MAD if the listed fare is not available on the EXACT date you want to fly. Heck, some of these rates (not many) expire July 10. I’m one of those travelers that say: “Just get me the cheapest rate–I don’t care when I fly.” I know there are a bunch of us out there. I see you at the airport ALL THE TIME!!!!!! Continue Reading »
I recently wrote to Steve Jarvis, an Alaska Airlines vice president, and told him I’d give him $10 if Alaska Airlines would fly to Minneapolis. Boy, I guess I’ll have to pay up.
Beginning Oct. 26, 2008, Alaska Airlines will fly twice-daily between Seattle and Minneapolis. I think this is going to be a big hit–both for the Seattle folks and for travelers here in Alaska. Introductory fares are available between Seattle and Minneapolis for $139 each way (for travel through Feb. 12, 2009). Taxes and fees are additional. Oh, there’s a double-miles promotion, too (for travel 10/26-12/31/2008).
There’s more, though.
Starting Nov. 17, 2008, Alaska Airlines will fly nonstop from Seattle to Kona on Alaska’s Big Island. With this new service, Alaska Airlines will serve four major Hawaiian Islands: Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai and Maui.
Finally, Alaska is boosting its Anchorage-Maui seasonal service from Oct. 31, 2008-Apr. 25, 2009 from twice-weekly to three-times-weekly. That’s great news!
For Alaska Airlines frequent flyers, this is hot stuff. It means your companion tickets (which you get with your Alaska Airlines Visa Card) is worth more since it works to high-dollar destinations like Minneapolis and Kona. It also means there are more competitive fares–particularly to notoriously high-fare destinations like Minneapolis.
Great news!
