Keith and Margo’s Murder Mystery Weekend special plots starting Friday evening at the Friday reception. Meet the scheming, manipulative, deceitful and murderous people that you will be spending the next day and a half with!
The mystery begins on Friday evening and develops at lunch on Saturday. Dreadful events occur, and you may stumble over a dead body or two. By dinner on Saturday night, you should have all the information you need to solve the murder but just when you think you’ve got it sussed, watch out for the final twist!
Sunday breakfast at Land’s End Resort is when it all comes to an end! You’ll be asked to write down our best hunch about who did what to whom, and why.
Remember: There are great “Getaway” packages available even if you can’t make this “killer” event. HA!
GETAWAY PACKAGE: Overnight accommodations, dinner for two in the Chart Room Restaurant, glass of wine or non-alcoholic substitute with your meal, unlimited use of pool, hot tub (beachfront! ), sauna and fitness center, plus continental breakfast. Chef Maggie Burns always comes up with some creative themes for these monthly get-togethers at the Chart Room at the End of the Spit.
This month’s theme for the Fri., Nov. 6 “Uncorked!”: The Southwest
First course: Scallop Salad. Seared scallops on crispy tortillas with jalapeno pesto and avocado puree (YUM!). Served on a bed of arugula with chipotle cream.
Wine: Charles Smith, Kung Fu Girl Riesling ‘08
Second course: Chili Verde soup. A thick flavorful soup made with slow-roasted pork in a green chili sauce of jalapeno, tomatillos, green chilies and garlic.
Wine: A to Z, Chardonnay ‘07
Third Course. Tamale de Elote. Fresh corn tamale filled with shredded beef. Served with a Manchanantel sauce – an ancho chili sauce made with ancho chilies, pineapple, banana, & spices.
Wine: Altozano, Tempranillo Cabernet ‘06
Fourth Course. Pollo Chorizo. Chicken breast stuffed with homemade chorizo sausage and goat cheese. Served with poblano corn sauce and twice-baked potatoes with smoked chilies.
Wine: Condado de Haza, Ribero del Duero ‘05
Dessert. Chocolate Taco. A chocolate taco filled with hazelnut chocolate mousse and strawberry kiwi salsa.
Wine: Toro Albala, Don PX Gran Reserva ‘79

We took a great flight with our friends at Maritime Helicopters in Homer. Out over the Homer Spit we went. Here are a couple of the photos we got. As they say–film at 11. Still sifting through the rough footage.

John Jacobs was our pilot with Maritime Helicopters, flying the Bell 206 Jet Ranger…ya–with the door off!

You can see Land’s End Resort on the Right. The beachfront condos on the left are the ones Land’s End rents out–fully-furnished. They’re very nice. Here’s an interior shot below (unit #713). I love the fireplace–especially on those chilly September mornings! Check out the tug pulling the barge in the background :
