Wow. I just got a “deals” list from Kelly Jo over at USTravel.
If you’re not on their email list, call her at (907)561-2434 and get signed up. It’s free–and you’ll get first pick of all the cruise deals. Here are some of our favorites:
a. Seven-night Danube River cruise, from $1,897 (in November). Sail in May for as little as $2,797 per person. Fly Condor nonstop from Anchorage or Fairbanks to get there (leaves from Budapest).
b. 10-night “Yacht Havens” cruise in the Mediterranean with Oceania Cruises. Folks–these are really nice ships. Ask Kelly Jo about extra incentives with Oceania, including shipboard credit, 2-for-1 cruise fares and air fare credit. The featured Aug. 5 cruise from Rome to Barcelona is priced from $3,613 per person.
c. Seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise on Princess’s “Sapphire Princess” (pictured above) for as little as $449 per person in April! Choose from two dates: Apr. 10 or Apr. 17, 2010. Sail from Los Angeles (well, Long Beach). Ports include Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. What a deal!
d. Seven-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise aboard the Carnival Liberty. Sail in October or November for as little as $449 per person. Ports include Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk. Sails from Miami.
As you can imagine, there are cruises to suit every taste and budget. Kelly Jo has some “food and wine” cruises, some cruises on intimate yachts or mega-ships. One of my favorite “cruises” was a live-aboard dive boat in the Cayman Islands.
Let Kelly Jo plan your next cruise vacation. Call her today: (907)561-2434.

Make plans to attend the BP World Ice Carving championships in Fairbanks. The Ice Alaska park opens on Feb 20 and the competition runs through Mar. 28. Pictured above, Santa Claus on ice! !

If you have not seen this incredible display–don’t miss it. To the right, I’m getting an “icy reception” on the phone! There are carvers from around the world, a kids park with slides and mazes and all varieties of ice sculptures.

Stay at the Fairbanks Princess right on the (frozen) Chena River. It’s located between the airport and the Ice Alaska park. They’ve got two specials. First, you can opt to stay there for just $79 per night, including DOUBLE Alaska Airlines miles. Free wireless, too!  Or, for $89 per night, you get a $15 PER PERSON breakfast voucher (up to two vouchers per room, per night). “Trappers” is a good spot for breakfast. Even when I’m staying somewhere else, I often drive over to the Princess for breakfast. So this is a GREAT deal. EXTRA: If you’re REALLY a bargain hunter, drop me a note and I’ll clue you in on a  SUPER-HOT Princess special that’s too hot to type!!

While you’re in Fairbanks, be SURE and go to the Museum of the North on the UAF campus. If you have a copy of the Great Alaskan TourSaver, there is a 2-for-1 coupon in there (page 109). Go to the multi-media exhibit called “The Place Where You Go To Listen”. It’s fabulous. Don’t miss it.

Flying to Fairbanks? From Anchorage, it’s easy with Era Alaska. There’s no TSA to fool with. Print your boarding pass at home and head to the counter, then on to the plane!

Batter up! Okay–full disclosure. I’m headed to SAFECO field next week to see the Mariners stand up to the Toronto Blue Jays.
