What a great time we had at Kenai Landing last night. We went to Costco and got a B-E-E-E-G Alaska net for dip-netting salmon. It’s a 5-foot net. Heck–we tied it to the top of the car.
But we got there in time to go out and get a few fish near the mouth of the Kenai River. In fact, we were so excited about our catch, that we almost missed Hobo Jim at Sockeye’s Restaurant. That’s right near the dock at Kenai Landing. I’ve had a GOB of their burgers — and I can attest to their F-I-N-E quality.
We’ve got some video of all that jazz later. Below, I’ve pasted a video I made of Hobo Jim–Alaska’s Balladeer–and his new song “I am Alaska”.
Honestly, folks, this is a great song. Check it out–and check out Hobo Jim‘s schedule at Sockeye’s. Personally, I think it’s a fabulous anthem for our state!
Stop in at Kenai Landing. Tell ‘em Scott sent you. Eat at Sockeye’s. Now, watch the video:
FYI, I am gobbling down some FRESH red salmon from the Kenai River. I now can die happy!! A-h-h-h-h. Y-u-u-m-m-m-m.
Wow. Those of us in Alaska still are in “shock-and-awe” mode over Sen. John McCain’s choice of our very own Governor, Sarah Palin, as his pick for his vice-presidential running mate. Here at the Alaska Travelgram, we know Gov. Palin as a fine woman who not only talks the talk…she walks the walk. In fact, we had no problem telling her to “Take a Hike!” last February when the folks at Alaska HDTV filmed her. Check it out:
Go, Sarah, Go! (more…)
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd welcomed the arrival of their fifth child this morning. The Palins were thankful that the Governor’s labor began yesterday while she was in Texas at the Governor’s Energy Conference where she gave the keynote luncheon address, but let up enough for her to travel on Alaska Airlines back to Alaska in time to deliver her second son.
Trig Paxson Van Palin was born at 6:30 a.m. and weighs six pounds, two ounces. The Governor and Trig are both doing well and resting comfortably.
The family released the following statement:
”Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed.”
The Palins have four other children including Track, 18, Bristol, 17, Willow, 13 and Piper, 7.
