If you haven’t been to the center lately, make plans to go. Have you noticed? It’s sunny outside! Head to skittle3Seward. Take the kids and see “Skittle”, the 10-week old sea otter pup! Skittle was found over in Seldovia in March, stranded on the float plane dock. According to the folks in Seldovia, Skittle was skittle1actually partly frozen to the dock! A dedicated team of folks from Homer and Seldovia brought him to the SeaLife Center.

Skittle is one of several stranded marine animals at the SeaLife Center, including ducks and harbor seals. Rehabilitation is one of the key missions at the Alaska SeaLife Center, along with research, education and exhibitry. But if you want to see Skittle, you’d better hurry. The plan is for Skittle to take up residence at a New York zoo after he gets a clean bill of health in about six weeks! (more…)
