In case any of you are wondering why we love Anchorage, it’s days like this that make it all worth it. Adjacent to the high school around the corner from our home is a great network of lighted ski trails maintained by our local Nordic Ski Club.

When I went skiing yesterday, it was about 27 degrees. Frankly, I was burning up. But the trails were in great shape–and it was a great day to be in Alaska!

Come and visit us in the winter. Check with our friends at the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau for some tips. You’ll be glad you did.

Of course, don’t forget to make the drive down to Alyeska Resort.

Lois Pryor and her husband Charles had a great time riding the Alaska Railroad this winter. One of the folks who narrated the trip from Fairbanks back to Anchorage, Steve Culver, made quite an impression:

“Dear Steve Culver,

“Recently we returned to Alaska for a winter experience. For Charles’ retirement/Christmas our three children gave us the Aurora package from Anchorage to Chena Hot Springs. We flew into Fairbanks then traveled out to Chena Hot Springs midweek and returned to Fairbanks on Saturday. Online, we learned the train traveled back to Anchorage on Sunday.

“Thank you, Steve, for making this rail trip the highlight of our visit! (more…)

I love riding in the winter. No bugs. Went for a great ride today–and got it on film. Check it out. Let me know what you think!

We went for a ride in Bicentennial Park across the street from our house. It was c-o-l-d outside! But we LOVE riding in the winter. You will, too!
